Restore the Arts here recognizes the “Facebook Five” group of neo-tonal, melodic composers of today. They are the equivalent of the French “Six” of the 1920’s (Milhaud, Honegger, Auric, Poulenc, Tailleferre), or the Russian “Five” (Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin, Mussorgsky, Balakirev, and Cui). In the photo above they are: Webster Young, Mark Vigil, Dominique Dupraz, David Marc Alterman, and Joseph Lliso. We will be posting here a recording from each – and these will show that their music indeed makes an interesting statement, unified in some ways, and diverse in others.
